Awards: RHS Award of Merit in 1907. RHS Award of Garden Merit in 1992.
Height & Width: 1.5m x 2m

The name means with large flowers.

A deciduous shrub with flowers in flat heads 5-15cm across comprising of mostly small fertile florets surrounded be a few large sterile florets on long pedicels.  Leaves serrate with a heart shaped base.  Cultivar ‘Annabelle’ has larger flowers and the new cultivar ‘Incrediball’ has larger flowers still.
