This is one of our more unusual hydrangeas. It’s one of the scandens species and was planted in our garden in 2009. It grows to about 1 metre high and wide. The sepals will always be white with a lacecap arrangement. The detail in the flower head is worth a second look. The leaves will turn to russets and reds in the Autumn.

A delicate small shrub up to 50cm high with thin branches and ovate leaves. The small flowers have a few sterile florets. The leaves are inconspicuously variegated with Bluish-black but tent to revert to green. Needs a very sheltered spot in the garden
