Today, 10 Rolls Royce apprentices with the help of Derby Homes came to the garden and started to build 3 new gates for the entrances into the walled garden. Five of them were from Germany on a cultural exchange to help towards a Derby community project. Melissa, the apprentice who managed this project with Hydrangea Derby and Derby City Council had spent the previous few weeks liaising with the Council, Derby Homes, Buildbase, the Friends of Darley Open Spaces and The Neighbourhood Board to put together this excellent scheme and provide the Hydrangea and Butterfly Gardens with practical and attractive gates and a lasting token of their enthusiasm and commitment. Oh, and while this was going on they also found time to build us a compost bay which will satisfy all our compost needs and fulfil our recycling obligations. Hydrangea Derby thank them very much.
