The Royal Horticultural Society run extensive Plant Trials and use the Award of Garden Merit to recognise plants of  proven garden-worthiness.   Hydrangea Derby are trialling 24 varieties of hydrangea for them so a Trials Team visited us to review and monitor the progress of these plants.  At the same time they looked over the whole collection to consider other varieties worthy of an award.   The team included growers with vast knowledge of the history and cultivation of hydrangeas but we still managed to  surprise and delight them with some of our plants.
