Synonyms: Mount Aso & Aso Volcano (Aso is sometimes spelt Azo)
Origins: It was collected as a seedling from slopes of Mount Aso on the island of Kyushu in Japan, and brought into the horticultural trade by Jelena De Belder, of Kalmthout Arboretum, Belgium. Distributed by: Bulk, Rein & Mark 2006

Sometimes also spelt ‘Azo’   A typical wild collected form, with very open white panicles, the sterile flowers give only 10% cover.  There is also a Hydrangea serrata cultivar named ‘Mount Aso’
