Named after the Buddhist monastery near the site where it was collected. This hydrangea is a naturally occurring mophead found in the wild of Sichuan. Most wild hydrangea’s are lacecaps, but occasionally mutant forms appear such as this one with nearly all sterile flowers, forming the typical mopheads shape associated with sterile forms.
