A small compact cultivar which flowers very early.  The small flattened panicles have sterile flowers open white then gradually turning a deep dusky purple-red towards the end of the season.  The seed capsules slowly turn red as they mature and can be clearly seen between the 50% cover of sterile flowers.  Named after the traditional Daruma doll of Japan.
